Q: Can I bring my own boat?
By all means! We have a brand new dock with 2 covered slips and plenty of tie-ups for additional boats. See next question regarding access to Maddox Bay.

Q: Is there a boat ramp on the property or a public boat ramp to launch from?
There is very limited access to Maddox Bay and there is no longer a public boat ramp, however Duck Club Members will be granted permission to use a designated private boat ramp. Short or long term renters must get permission from The Sportsman to use this private ramp, but we can not guarantee approval.

Q: Are hunting or fishing guides allowed?
No person shall utilize the service of a guide, guide service, outfitter, club, organization or other person who provides equipment, services, or assistance on the refuge for compensation.

Q: Are non-hunting pets allowed?
Unfortunately, no pets are allowed inside the cabin. Sporting dogs are allowed on the premises and can be stored in an air conditioned mudroom on the basement level. The mudroom is accessible from both inside the basement level (off the kitchen area) and from the driveway (under carport) making it ideal for storing your hunting clothes, gear and dogs.

Q: Is there cable & WIFI?
We're not cavemen! Yes, we offer satellite TV ("the dish") as well as a secure WIFI network. If your phone has WIFI calling capabilities, you should have no problem getting service.

Q: Is there fuel onsite to refill my boat tank?
Not yet. Our plan is to have a portable fuel tank (25-30 gal) onsite for long term renters to be able to refill their boat tanks, however for now guests will have to fill up at a nearby gas station in Holly Grove.

​Q: Do I need to have a permit to hunt?
Yes. This is NEW, but a Annual Public Use Permit is now required to hunt, fish, and utilize campgrounds on Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife Refuge. The permit cost is $20.00 for those 16 years of age and over and is free to those 15 years of age and younger. Click HERE to get your permit.

Q: Is smoking allowed in the cabin?
Nope. Smoking is not permitted inside the cabin or on the porch areas (including cigars). So, we kindly ask that you take a walk and enjoy your smoke away from our cedar cabin.

Q: What are common areas if the cabin is rented by more than one group?
We love animals and want all sporting dogs to have a warm place to rest up, so the mudroom ideal for pets and kennels. This is a shared area when there are renters in the main cabin and basement level at the same time.
​Q: Are towels and linens provided?
Yes, each bathroom will be supplied with 2 bath towels (not to be used for anything other than showering) per guest and each bed will have fresh linens; comforters, sheets, extra blankets, etc. Long term guests (main cabin) have access to the laundry room if needed. Additional complimentary items: 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom, 2 tide pods (main cabin), 1 roll of paper towels and 1 cascade pod per kitchen. Don't see it listed? Bring your own.
Q: Is there a cleaning fee?
Yes, it is $180 for the main cabin and $80 for the basement level. We trust all guests will have the utmost respect for our property and its contents, so we do not collect a security deposit to be held after checkout. If guests damage anything, we ask that you let us know!
